what's your secret to compressing the video and having it look so good?

I lovve the beginning...the music starts, the model is posing and it's like...in sync and there's that cool...like...change in film exposure or something. Really cool looking. Later on in the video, with all the flashing and stuff, I felt like I was being sent subliminal messages or something, lol.
