i like the shots of the actual unfurling, and the garbage truck was great. If you have more footage of the truck I'd like to see it, especially if there was loads of garbage waste that resulted from The Gates, could be an interesting commentary.
It was really cool to watch the unveiling of the fabric. My favorite part was hearing the sounds of the people and watching the garbage truck. Whenever I see footage of The Gates or any of thier projects, it's always seen detached from the hard work that went into it and all of the wasted materials....it's always so romanticized and silent like in a book or photograph....or put to beautiful music in video or something. It was just nice to see this project in such a raw state...crowded with people and garbage and clapping.
since it had footage of the garbage truck hauling away wrapping paper that probably cost thousands and took hours and hours to choose! this is the best media coverage of the event yet... this is good coverage too, but just text: http://www.greg.org/archive/2005/02/13/the_gates_bill.html
Here's opening-morning footage of Christo and Jeanne-Claude's The Gates in Central Park. During the next couple of weeks I'll be taking a lot of walks. There's a longer-loading (but clearer) version of this movie at
