Anyway I want it to say I am not a Journey fan, so I've never enjoyed that song, till now. I'll take you over Steve Perry anyday. (That I'm lifelong wild about red hair I can't help, and you're cute but in a cool way, so none of that hurts, either. Steve Perry was a good looking dude in his day in his way, but as I don't swing that way let me focus on you and forget your enchanting visual for a second.)
Now as the video starts I admit I'm lukewarm -- hell, how can one not be, there's all this laughing going on which I just found out you added, you're wicked, eh. Wow, the noise distracts from your performance, however at the same time it makes it that much more remarkable that you and/or the song are being mocked yet I'm still not swayed away from your commitment and the level of your performance, and somehow it makes it all that much more trippy and inspired and inspiring. Even though your singing is certainly understated compared to Perry so it's not like your shouting down those doubters in the virtual audience, but in my virtual mind you win them over because in the end you win. I find you to be so much warmer and smoother and hipper that Journey yet you still deliver the sentiment -- I believe you mean it, and I want to believe it (even though love stinks) but man you hook me in. The final lines of the song, the cool yeah yeahs and the awesome oh ohs, and then the flourish with your hand and arm... you stick yourself out there, let go, but you pull it all back to the base tight yet loose: color me impressed.
